Allegro Foodservice Expands Contract Packing Capabilities with Pre-made Stand Up Pouch Machine Investment
Allegro Foodservice, a leading manufacturer and distributor specialising in dry and frozen dessert products, has expanded its production and contract packing capabilities with the purchase of an IPS-8BT Stand Up Pouch Machine from Intamac Packaging Systems. The investment enables Allegro to provide an end-to-end service from product development through to packing and distribution.
Pre-made pouch machine to bolster in-house production
Allegro’s in-house production already includes extensive dry-mix and blending capabilities, supplying bespoke dessert mixes to both B2B and franchise clients. With BRCGS and BRC AA accreditation and a growing portfolio of white-label powdered products, the company identified a strategic opportunity to broaden its contract packing services.
Historically reliant on VFFS equipment for packing, Allegro sought to introduce a more premium packaging format for customers. The ability to pack products into pre-made stand-up pouches, ideal for supermarket shelves and brand differentiation led to the procurement of the Stand Up Pouch Machine.
Allegro first met Intamac when exploring servicing options for existing VFFS equipment. After discussing future business plans, Tom Poston, Division Manager at Intamac Packaging Systems, recommended the IPS-8BT as a flexible, budget-friendly, and space-efficient solution for Allegro.

John Hodges, Production Manager, Allegro Foodservice, explained:
“It was important for us to purchase equipment that could evolve with the business. We didn’t want to be restricted by our machinery if our customers’ needs are changing. As a growing, entrepreneurial business this was really important to us and the Intamac equipment delivers this.”
Delivery and Installation
Delivery of the IPS-8BT was completed on schedule. Initial location-based setup adjustments were required on arrival, which Intamac’s engineering team quickly resolved before providing full operator training.
John Hodges added:
“When the machine arrived there were some initial unforeseen issues. The Intamac team were quick to help and make the necessary adjustments, meaning that the set-up ran to time and resolved any problems. As we are BRCGS accredited, we regularly have the machines checked and serviced by the Intamac engineers. This gives us peace of mind that the machines are running properly and this maintenance programme is invaluable.”
Since installation, Allegro has successfully trialled a range of products on the machine and recruited a food technologist to advance its capability further, supporting both B2B and B2C recipe development. The company continues to assist clients with packaging, strengthening its presence in the contract packing sector.
Tom Poston, Intamac Packaging Systems, commented:
“Allegro is such an exciting business to work with. Not only do they have their super successful chain of Creams Cafés, but they are also always finding ways to improve their offering and develop their business. We’re proud to support them as they expand into new areas.”
With UK-based engineering support and a customer-focused service package, Intamac remains a strong partner for Allegro as the company drives forward in its contract packing growth strategy.
