With their biltong proving to be very popular this family business needed to move onto the next level, from hand-packing to a fully automated system.
They turned to Intamac and, after carefully discussing their needs, they purchased a Vertical Form Fill Seal, IPS420E-SS with integrated 10 head multi-head, specially designed to pack dried goods for the snack food industry. Neil Dodson, CEO at Simply African Foods is delighted with the machine:
“We were initially concerned about the outlay on a packaging machine but the Intamac machinery is compact and great value. We’ve been able to remain in our current premises, train our great team to use the new machinery and worked closely with Intamac to create a bespoke solution.”
The machine has also enabled a number of cost savings including 15% on packaging costs over the coming year. “We have also been able to increase one of our key contracts from packing 700 packs a week to 9700 packs, and this is just the beginning.” Neil continues, “We have more buying power with our suppliers, in particular for meat and packaging – because we are producing so much more product to fulfill the new contracts that we have won since purchasing the machine.”
