Form fill and seal

Why Form Fill and Seal Machines Are The Right Choice

14th September 2021/in Uncategorised/by AdamSEO

Form Fill and Seal machines are increasingly seen in packaging lines for companies in a wide range of industries, including medical and pharmaceutical, cosmetics, technical products and food. They are easy to operate, take up little floor space and are well suited to packaging a wide variety of products at different speeds.

How Form Fill and Seal machines (FFS) operate

In FFS machines, a roll of plastic film packaging material is fed into the machine, shaped and sealed to form a bag, before being filled with a specific volume of product, sealed and separated from the roll, allowing for the process to begin again.

Whilst these processes are simple, Form Fill and Seal machines are extremely sophisticated, ensuring that the same size bag is formed every time, and the volume of product packaged is weighed to ensure that precisely the right weight is packaged. The entire packaging process is carried out much more quickly and efficiently than if it had been completed manually.

Understandably, FFS machines are in high demand for the reasons already mentioned, but there are a range of advantages that prove Form Fill and Seal is the right choice.

Reduced waste material

FFS machines use sophisticated bag length measuring technology that ensures that only the desired amount of plastic film is used for packaging. When one bag is separated from the roll of plastic film, the next bag begins, ensuring that no waste is created in between bags.

Ancillary equipment available

FFS machines can be combined with ancillary equipment including ink jet printing systems for date and batch code numbers, helping to make packaging processes more efficient.

Reduced costs

As discussed, FFS machines help to considerably increase speed and efficiency, as well as cutting out waste material. The results are reduced costs, as fewer staff are required for packaging processes, and less packaging materials are required.

Reduced time and flexibility of time

FFS machines are available in slow and fast versions, however, they can run continuously or intermittently in order to carry out processes at a speed that suits you. Both slow and fast FFS machines are faster than manually packaging products.

Product versatility

For manufacturers that package a range of different products, Form Fill and Seal machines can be adjusted to suit the products you need to package. Reel film width, bag length and bag width can be adjusted, as well as packaging speeds.
