Vertical form fill and seal machines (VFFS) could be the golden bullet your business needs to supercharge its production and profits. But despite increasing awareness of types of packaging and filling machines, many business owners and manufacturers are yet to discover the multitude of benefits VFFS can offer.

What are vertical form fill and seal machines?

A vertical form fill and seal machine is a packaging machine that uses flexible packaging material to seal goods. It’s an automated assembly line product packaging system, most commonly used for packaging food and perishable goods, along with a wide range of other products. The flexible packaging material is used to form a tube, the tube is then filled vertically with product and sealed.

Why are VFFS Machines so good?

VFFS are Simple

Vertical form fill and seal machines are one of the simpler kinds of packaging machines. Rather than having lots of intricate parts, they rely on a few structures to run. This makes them incredibly simple to use and maintain. What’s more, they are not PLC driven, so you don’t need complicated software to be able to maintain them. Due to their simplicity, VFFS are easy to fault find on, and are simple to train staff on. Overall, you should have less time spent training staff and fixing the machinery and have more time in full production mode.

VFFS offer a cost-effective packing solution

Due to the relatively low outlay of a vertical form fill and seal machine, they make an exceptional investment. Not only can they fill and pack at high speeds if required, but because of the low number of components, there’s less to go wrong and hinder production. This makes them a cost-effective product packing solution, and one that can give you less of a headache than other packaging options on the market.

Vertical form fill and seal machines offer high speed packing options

VFFS can produce high volumes very fast, with some machines able to pack in excess of 120 packs a minute. As the old adage goes, time is money – so the quick packaging speed of VFFS is one that cannot be overlooked.

VFFS are extremely reliable

As a manufacturer, you’ll be familiar with the chaos that ensues when a piece of machinery breaks. Generally, the more complex it is, the more there is to go wrong. Thanks to the simplicity of VFFS, there’s very little to break, so you can rest assured your downtime will be kept at a minimum.

Vertical form fill and seal machines are versatile

This type of packaging machinery allows you to change pack sizes quickly and easily. This means there’ll be less product changeover and downtime for product changeovers can be minimised.

Reliability is a key factor to consider when choosing your packaging machinery. A vertical form fill and seal machine is simple, unique and can be customised depending on your business needs. When choosing your vertical form fill seal machine, finding the right technology for your best-selling products is key, so working with a trusted VFFS supplier is essential.

Here at Intamac, we’ve worked with many manufacturers just like you to find the best VFFS machine for their business. To find yours, please contact us on: 01420 593682 and we will be happy to assist.
